Faith Formation

Catechesis of the Good Shepherd

The Catechesis of the Good Shepherd is a Montessori-based approach to the religious formation of children, rooted in Sacred Scripture, Liturgy, and respect for the child’s rich relationship with God. After an introduction by the catechist, the children are invited to work with the material on their own to continue their mediation.  Because children learn by using their hands, working with materials allows them to enter more deeply into meditation and nurturing their relationship with God. Sacramental Preparation

At St. Clement, First Communion and First Reconciliation (confession) is a two year preparation process for children ages 7 or older, traditionally starting in first grade.  If your child is older than second grade, we still follow a two year process through regular Faith Formation classes, but with some additional focus during the second year on the study of the sacraments.  Completion of the Sacraments of Initiation (Confirmation and First Holy Communion) and Reconciliation (Penance) are free-standing and separate from the regular parish Faith Formation programs.

For more information, visit: Sacraments.
