MUSIC MINISTRY

Ministry Leader

Piedad Mendoza, Music Director

 

Music is an important and integral part of our liturgies and our Church life. Our musicians and cantors are people of all ages and music abilities and they are giving their talent and time as volunteers in God service. They sing and play diverse instruments in variety of Masses styles with published schedule, and for other special liturgies and concerts. Our first mission is to support the readings and gospel messages through song and to invite the community to have an active participation singing with us at the Liturgies celebrations, for that our church has a modern system of slides projection; also we have complete music equipment and wonderful music room for practices, close to the Church.

If you like to be part of our ministry, please read about the specific areas below that might be of interest to you. The ability to read music is not required; although, you have the opportunity to learn it in our special courses of theory and music reading, and music instruments guide.

ADULT ENGLISH GROUP: This is a new group for Mass at the 4.00 p.m. Saturday Mass. They rehearse every Friday from 8.00 to 9.00 p.m. and one hour before the Mass. Our musicians participate with piano/organ, guitars, percussion instruments and cantors. This ensemble leads in the signing traditional and renovate liturgy music and they always invite to the community to sing together. Director: Piedad Mendoza. Assistant: Jazmin Pinedo.

ADULT ENGLISH CHOIR: They typically sing at the 10.30 a.m. Sunday Mass. They rehearse every Wednesdays from 7.30 to 9.00 p.m. This choir sings a combination of traditional and contemporary choral music. Director: Katherine Abbey.  Assistant: Paul Hetrick.

YOUTH BILINGUAL BAND AND CHOIR: These energetic musicians provide music for Youth Special Masses once a month. Rehearsals are on Friday from 7.00 to 8.00 p.m. and one hour before the Mass. Our youth member plays electric guitars, bass, drums, minor percussion and piano. Director: Piedad Mendoza. Assistants: John Avender and Miguel Pinedo

ADULT SPANISH CHOIRS: Our Spanish choirs and musicians provide music for the 8.15 a.m. and 6.00 p.m. Sunday Spanish Masses. Regular rehearsal is on Tuesday and Thursday from 8.00 to 9.15 p.m. These ensembles include voices and many instruments as acoustic guitars, bass, violin, ‘acordeon’, trumpet, pain-flute, minor percussion and piano. Our members have an intense spiritual life and active participation in many activities of our church. Besides, they have a faith compromise to be available when our church needs them for special events. Director: Piedad Mendoza. Assistants: Miguel Pinedo and Gerardo Gonzalez.

 

 

CHILDREN BILINGUAL CHOIR: The children’s choir ensemble has an amazing participation in Special Masses and Special Events, as Mother’s Day, Recitals and Christmas Concerts. Rehearsals are on Thursday from 6.00 to 7.00 p.m. and eventually on Saturday from 5.30 to 6.30 p.m. They recorder a Cd “Es Navidad” in 2007. This Choir is open to all children from 7 to 12 years previous voice’s evaluation. This is a wonderful opportunity to develop their musical gifts. Their parents must be available to assume the responsibility to transport and care of their children before and after events. Director: Piedad Mendoza. Assistants: Jazmin Pinedo & Nanci Palacios.

 

MARIACHI’S GUADALUPANO: This nice group participate in Special Events and Special Masses. Rehearsals are on Tuesday from 8.00 to 9.30 p.m.  Their name is ‘Mariachi Guadalupano of St. Clement” and they were created to attend the Guadalupe Mass of “Mañanitas” celebrated in Plant City Stadium on December 12th of each year in honor to Our Lady of Guadalupe. His practices began on September, 2008 with three violinists, two trumpeters, one bass, one vihuela player, three guitarists and seven singers of the Spanish choir; the clothes and authentic folklore instruments  as “vihuela” and ‘guitarron” were bringing from Mexico. They recorder a Cd. “A nuestra Virgen Guadalupana” with ten beautiful songs. His debut was on December 12th, 2008 and the group is available to serve in Catholic events of Florida. All the music arrangement was doing for his Music Director: Piedad Mendoza. 

 

GUITAR’S ENSEMBLE GROUP: Our mission is to teach to play guitar to who are interested to be part of our music ensemble, specially to attend the weekend Masses. We are three levels and each course during four months. The hourly of classes is: Tuesday for Level I or Thursday for level II & III from 7.00 to 8.00 p.m. Each student must bring his own instrument; we provide the material and lessons. CURSILLISTAS

The Cursillos of Christianity began in Spain , on the island of Mallorca , in 1944. The founding concept was that lay people, by virtue of the sacraments of baptism and confirmation, perform an active role in evangelization in the world. The Cursillo retreat (conducted over a long weekend) is considered a "short course in Christianity", and introduces you to how you fit into the church's mission today.  For many people, this retreat deepens appreciation for our faith, and opens up opportunities to apply and live out our faith in the modern world.
