Modern pastoral practice reflects two separate, though interrelated, ways of determining when a
young person's response to the
Holy Spirit should be celebrated in the Sacrament of
Confirmation. Many communities require that an individual display a mature
understanding of
the Faith and a willingness to witness to Christ as the prerequisite for reception of the Sacrament.
Since this response is similar to the conversion of life and profession of Faith required of an
adult seeking Baptism, Confirmation retains its initiatory characteristics.
Others hold that the
ancient order of the reception of the Sacraments, as well as the revised Rite of Initiation of
Adults, enforces an understanding that Confirmation is the link between Baptism and the
Eucharist. As such, no one would be admitted to Holy Communion without first being
confirmed. In this way, the desire to be united with the person and mission of Jesus, whom the
Eucharist makes present, is the response to the work of the Holy Spirit necessary for Confirmation." 18

Parents have a primary role in the sacramental catechesis of their children. When you presented your child for baptism you acknowledged your role and your parish community acknowledged their responsibility to assist you in that role.
Families who wish to register in General Faith Formation must be registered parishioners (or provide pastoral permission for preparation away from their home parish). If you have not registered and wish to do so, we will provide you with the proper forms to register, at the time of enrollment. We are excited to have more families become a part of our parish.
Confirmation is a two year program with sessions on the 2nd and 4th Sunday of the month. Students must be in their second consecutive year of regular faith formation in order to be considered eligible for Confirmation. General Faith Formation includes Youth Group, Catholic School, or organized home-school religious education. Typically, a student will begin the Confirmation preparation in 8th grade and will be confirmed in 9th grade.
Confirmation Sessions are the 2nd & 4th Sunday of the Month in Cronin Hall
