St. Clement Catholic Church Pastoral Plan
(Developed in consultation with the Parishioners and Pastoral Council and with the approval of the Pastor)

Principles:

1. The basis of all that we do at St. Clement is to be faithful to the commission of Jesus in Matthew 28:19.
2. To use the Disciples Mission Statement as the basis of planning and directing all parish ministries and activities (see Mission statement).
3. To use the Paulist Envision program to implement the great commission.
4. To implement a team approach in all efforts.
5. To implement term-limits for ministry leaders.
6. To establish guidelines for all ministries which include orientation for new ministers, annual training for ministers, and the adoption and living out of the St. Clement Spirit Statement (see Spirit statement).
7. To emphasize the connection between formation, liturgy, and service.
8. To recognize that in this day and age much more is required of the followers of Jesus.

Formation:

1. Adopt the Disciples’ Mission Statement as the basis for all formation programs.
2. Change from a school-house model to an accessible intergenerational approach. To use a combination of other models that seek to instill faith formation as a life long process involving our church in a partnership. This partnership will include catechesis and prayer in our church as well as in our homes. The program will be part of a life long effort, preparing us for a lifetime of discipleship while engaging us on many levels as seen in the Disciples’ Mission Statement. This process shall be an enjoyable process for our youth.
3. Formation programs will include preparation for the sacraments and on going programs of renewal.

Liturgy:

1. Adopt the Disciples’ Mission Statement as the basis for all liturgy.
2. Establish a liturgy committee.
3. Encourage greater involvement of all in the liturgy through full active participation of every member of our church.
4. Increase the understanding of all regarding the Sacraments and Catholic worship.
5. Continue to assess the possibility of participating in the Life-Teen program.

Service:

1. Adopt the Disciples’ Mission Statement as the basis for and service.
2. Increase fellowship opportunities.
3. Establish a Disaster Team.
4. Establish a pastoral care program that includes: parish nurse, phone tree, respite program, need a ride program, and lawn and home care for those in need.
5. Establish a welcome program for new parishioners.
6. Become a stewardship parish.
7. Establish a children’s nursery during the 10:30 am Mass and for other parish activities.
8. Establish a Vocation Committee.
9. Increase outreach.
10. Continue the Charter for the Protection of Children and Young People.

We will continue to plan for the future.

St. Clement Disciples’ Mission Statement

I am as a Baptized member of St. Clement Catholic Church called to:

  • Desire to be transformed into the person and image of Jesus Christ.
  • Recognize that through my Baptism I have been called by Jesus to be His disciple and this represents the greatest purpose of my life.
  • Live deeply the sacramental life of the Church through my full and active participation.
  • See my life as part of the Body of Christ the Church which means that I seek to be engaged in worship and prayer living a life that is moral, communal, and active in the spiritual life
  • Be a leader of prayer and be active individually and by joining with others to pray for the church, the world, others, and myself.
  • Engage others in conversation about the elements of Faith and recognize that I am called to evangelize through inviting those who have not faith to faith, to those who have left the faith or are inactive to return, and to invite those who so desire to the fullness of the Faith given to us by Jesus.
  • Make my home a Domestic church and a place of prayer.
  • Renew the temporal order
  • Make an annual retreat, participate in the parish mission, attend days of recollection,
  • Enjoy the fellowship of my fellow Catholics
  • Seek to promote the desire of Jesus that all be one through ecumenical and inter-faith involvement
  • Recognize that faith formation is a life long process, which means that I will always be engaged in the study of the Holy Scriptures and Tradition of the Church, and other Holy Sciences.
  • Seek prior to my death to have been fully initiated into the Sacramental life of the Church
  • Request for others or self when ill the sacraments of the Sick, Penance, Viaticum and the Last Blessing of the Church.
  • Become involved in a parish ministry and be willing as an active member of St. Clement to assist with household Liturgical chores.
  • Seek to be a member of a Small Catholic Community
  • Recognize Jesus mandate to serve the poor especially through the efforts of My Brothers’ Keeper and pastoral care of the sick and homebound, and through special assistance of the elderly and those parishioners who need my help such as providing a meal, help with lawn care, Respite, or providing a ride. This call also extends to wherever and whenever that Jesus places the call upon my heart to serve.
  • Recognize my call as a Catholic to exercise faithful citizenship.
  • Witness to the Gospel first through the witness of my life and then through the vocal sharing of the faith with others.
  • Recognize and seek to be trained in Apologetics
  • Live a life of Stewardship

*This statement is to serve as the call of every Baptized member of St. Clement. It is also to be the guide for all ministry programs. We recognize that circumstances may prevent the total fulfillment of this mission by certain members of our church; however, we cannot compromise what we recognize as the call that has been given us By Jesus Christ and passed down to us through His Church.

- I will seek to promote a spirit of welcoming while always promoting inclusion and not exclusion.
- I commit myself to growing in the faith and doing all I can to share my faith within and outside our community.
